Sewing and DIY classes for ages 7–14 in Daybreak, South Jordan. Small classes, big empowerment. Because there's nothing like watching something come together that you created.
I started Place of Make because I have a passion for helping kids feel that feeling — the one they get after they've made something with their own hands. They picked out what they wanted to create, learned a new skill, and accomplished something tangible. In this instant-gratification world, there is nothing like seeing something come together that you created.
Working with fabric is one of my favorite things because it's so tactile. I love the colors and textures, but then to take that fabric and turn it into whatever you want? Truly amazing. I spent over a decade teaching sewing and quilting at my family's quilt shop, and now I'm building something new right here in Daybreak.
Place of Make is about empowerment. It's about strengthening your creativity muscle and learning that you can create anything. The world needs community and in-person gatherings more than ever — and that's what this is. Learning new skills, feeling empowered, and being around like-minded creatives who are all cheering each other on as we learn to create beauty all around us.

Not at all! Our beginner workshops start from the very basics — how to thread the machine, use the foot pedal, and sew a straight line. We meet every student where they are.
Safety is our top priority. Every new student starts with a machine safety orientation. With only 6 students max, your child gets close supervision. We maintain a first aid kit on-site, and all parents sign a safety waiver.
For ages 7–8, we ask that a parent remain on the premises. For ages 9+, drop-off is welcome! We collect emergency contacts and a signed waiver during registration.
Just themselves and their creativity! All materials are provided. We recommend closed-toe shoes, tying back long hair, and avoiding loose sleeves.
Yes! We occasionally offer adult workshops and parent-child classes on weekends. Join our email list to get notified.
